I like materials, textures, craftsmanship, atmosphere, emotion and experimenting. I like to think out of the box, keep things simple, make people think, provoke and question the standard.
Before I started studying architecture I worked in the kitchen of my families restaurant on Aruba and then I went to the Netherlands to study building engineering. With my bachelor in building engineering, I have a good basis to start as an architect in the future. Keeping the wild and radical ideas, while staying loyal to my engineering background.
At the moment I am preparing myself for my graduation thesis at the academy of built arts in Arnhem (ArtEZ). I will start in September of 2017 on a project based on Aruba. An old abandoned gold smelter that I want to transform into a type of building that is for the mind, body, and soul. This type of architecture is missing on the island and it’s time I make a proposal for such a building. Feel free to contact me for more information.
My ambition is to work on projects internationally that have aspects of economics, politics, and community with challenging and innovative design and engineering. Being able to create spaces that can make people feel safe, appreciated and in place while being thoroughly thought out, sustainable and based on the context and environment.
